Job Description:
 Fabrication Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing the quality control aspects of the fabrication process, ensuring that all manufactured products meet established standards by inspecting materials, monitoring production steps, identifying and resolving quality issues, and implementing corrective actions to maintain consistent high-quality output throughout the fabrication cyclethey work closely with production teams to ensure compliance with quality management systems and industry regulations. 
 
Key responsibilities may include:
  • Quality Inspection:
    Performing thorough inspections on raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to verify adherence to design specifications and quality standards. 
     
  • Process Monitoring:
    Monitoring fabrication processes like welding, cutting, and assembly to identify potential quality issues early on and implement corrective actions. 
     
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Maintaining detailed quality records, including inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and data analysis to track quality trends and identify areas for improvement. 
     
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC):
    Utilizing statistical methods to analyze process data and identify potential variations that could impact product quality. 
     
  • Root Cause Analysis:
    Investigating quality issues to determine the root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. 
     
  • Quality Standard Compliance:
    Ensuring adherence to relevant industry quality standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 9001, ASME). 
     
  • Supplier Quality Management:
    Collaborating with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components. 
     
  • Training and Development:
    Providing training to production personnel on quality procedures and best practices. 
     
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Identifying opportunities to optimize fabrication processes and improve product quality. 
     
 
Required skills and qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mechanical, manufacturing, or related field)
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes like welding, cutting, machining, and assembly
  • Proficiency in quality control methodologies and statistical analysis
  • Knowledge of relevant quality management systems (QMS)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with production teams and cross-functional departments
