Roles & Responsibilities of a Purchase and Logistics In-Charge
A. Procurement & Purchasing Responsibilities
Identify and source vendors for raw materials, equipment, and supplies. Negotiate pricing, contracts, and payment terms with suppliers. Ensure timely procurement to avoid production or operational delays. Maintain supplier relationships and assess performance regularly. Optimize purchase costs while maintaining quality standards. Track and manage inventory levels to prevent overstocking or shortages. Ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations for procurement. B. Logistics & Supply Chain Management Responsibilities Oversee transportation, warehousing, and distribution operations. Ensure timely delivery of goods from suppliers to the company and from the company to customers. Coordinate with shipping companies and freight forwarders for imports/exports. Monitor and optimize logistics costs, including freight and warehousing expenses. Manage documentation related to shipments, customs clearance, and regulatory compliance. Address and resolve logistics issues such as delays, damages, or lost shipments. Implement strategies to improve supply chain efficiency and reduce lead times. C. Inventory & Warehouse Management Track stock movement and maintain accurate inventory records. Work with warehouse teams to ensure efficient space utilization. Implement inventory control techniques like FIFO (First-In-First-Out). Conduct audits to prevent pilferage and discrepancies in stock levels. Ensure safety standards are followed in storage and handling. D. Coordination & Reporting Collaborate with the production, finance, and sales teams for smooth operations. Generate reports on purchase orders, supplier performance, and logistics costs. Use ERP or inventory management software to streamline procurement and logistics. Stay updated on market trends, supplier pricing, and new logistics solutions.
3. Key Qualifications & Skills for Hiring Educational
Qualification – Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience – 3-7 years in procurement, logistics, or supply chain management. Technical Skills – ERP systems, inventory software, and data analysis. Negotiation Skills – Ability to secure better deals and manage supplier relationships. Problem-Solving Ability – Handling supply chain disruptions and operational challenges
