Junior Architect
Job Description:
Job Summary: We are looking for a motivated and talented Junior Architect to join our design team. As a Junior Architect, you will support senior architects and designers in the development of architectural designs, drawings, and project documentation. You will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the design and construction process while working on a variety of exciting projects. This position is ideal for individuals looking to grow their architectural career and build a strong foundation in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Support: Assist senior architects in the development of design concepts, sketches, and architectural plans. Contribute to brainstorming sessions and design discussions.
Drafting & Documentation: Prepare architectural drawings, 3D models, and renderings using CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, etc.). Ensure that designs are accurate and meet project specifications.
Project Coordination: Support project teams by preparing and organizing project documentation, including specifications, technical reports, and presentation materials.
Site Visits: Attend site visits with senior team members to gather data, evaluate project progress, and ensure that designs are being implemented correctly.
Compliance & Code Research: Conduct research on building codes, zoning laws, and other regulations to ensure design compliance. Assist in the preparation of necessary documentation for project approval.
Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (engineers, contractors, etc.) to ensure designs are properly integrated into the construction process.
Sustainability: Assist in the development of sustainable design strategies, including the use of energy-efficient materials and systems in the building design.
Client Interaction: Participate in client meetings and presentations as needed, gaining exposure to client relations and project development.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related field from an accredited institution.
Experience: 2-4 years of experience in architecture, preferably in a professional office setting. Internships or part-time work in architecture firms is a plus.
Skills:
Proficiency in architectural design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, etc.).
Strong ability to create detailed drawings and 3D models.
Basic understanding of building systems, materials, and construction techniques.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Licensing: Must be actively working towards obtaining architectural licensure (if applicable in your country/region).
Preferred Skills:
Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and parametric design tools.
Knowledge of sustainable building practices and certifications (e.g., LEED).
Familiarity with rendering software (e.g., V-Ray, Enscape).
