Position: Head - Purchase & Sourcing
Location: Pune
Experience: 10 - 12 Years

Responsibilities:
- Supply Chain Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement comprehensive supply chain strategies tailored to support automotive product development and manufacturing operations.
- Conduct detailed market analysis, evaluate supplier capabilities, and align supply chain processes with evolving business goals and customer expectations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, sales) to forecast demand, ensuring adequate component and raw material availability to meet production schedules.
- Supplier Management:
- Lead the identification, selection, and management of key suppliers, ensuring their alignment with quality standards, cost-effectiveness, and on-time delivery.
- Negotiate favorable contracts, pricing structures, and terms with suppliers, focusing on long-term strategic partnerships to drive cost savings and operational reliability.
- Regularly evaluate supplier performance through key metrics, reviewing quality, delivery, and cost compliance. Address any issues promptly to avoid disruptions to the manufacturing process.
- Develop and implement supplier improvement programs, as well as risk mitigation plans to ensure continuity of supply in the event of external disruptions.
- Inventory and Warehouse Management:
- Oversee inventory management to ensure the balance of optimal stock levels—avoiding both overstocking and shortages, while minimizing warehousing costs.
- Supervise the storage and handling of automotive components, ensuring efficient distribution to production lines and alignment with manufacturing schedules.
- Implement Just-in-Time (JIT) inventory management systems, reducing excess stock and improving production flow.
- Logistics and Distribution:
- Oversee inbound logistics to ensure timely, cost-effective transportation of materials from suppliers to manufacturing facilities, minimizing delays and reducing overall transportation costs.
- Coordinate with logistics providers to ensure the on-time delivery of parts and components, optimizing delivery routes, and transportation efficiency.
- Develop and maintain a robust logistics network, including global and regional suppliers, to ensure that production timelines and supply requirements are consistently met.
- Production Support and Coordination:
- Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure timely delivery of materials to the manufacturing floor, minimizing delays and preventing production downtime.
- Monitor production schedules in partnership with procurement and inventory teams to ensure materials are available when needed, while maintaining production efficiency.
- Troubleshoot supply chain issues as they arise, proactively identifying bottlenecks and collaborating on solutions to minimize production disruptions.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Leverage supply chain management software and analytics tools to track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as lead times, on-time delivery rates, inventory turnover, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Provide regular, comprehensive reports to senior management on supply chain performance, highlighting potential risks, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
- Conduct root cause analysis for disruptions, identifying trends and formulating continuous improvement strategies to optimize supply chain operations.
- Cost Optimization:
- Champion cost-reduction strategies across the supply chain, driving efficiencies through strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and process optimization.
- Analyze and evaluate cost structures across all facets of the supply chain, identifying opportunities to reduce material costs, streamline operations, and improve lead times.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, including import/export laws, industry-specific quality standards (ISO, IATF 16949), and environmental regulations relevant to automotive supply chains.
- Proactively identify potential risks in the supply chain (e.g., geopolitical, supplier insolvency, natural disasters) and develop comprehensive risk mitigation strategies to protect the supply chain’s integrity.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for audits and ensure adherence to compliance standards across all supply chain operations.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining procurement processes, enhancing supplier quality control, and optimizing overall supply chain efficiency.
- Promote lean manufacturing principles, focusing on eliminating waste, reducing lead times, and improving overall operational effectiveness.
- Foster a culture of innovation and adaptability within the supply chain team, encouraging new ideas and approaches to meet the evolving demands of the automotive industry.
- SAP Proficiency:
- Utilize SAP for vendor management, procurement, and supply chain processes.
- Ensure accurate data entry and reporting.
- Six Sigma Implementation:
- Lead and implement Six Sigma methodologies to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of vendor development professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Required Skills:
- Industry Expertise: Deep knowledge of the luxury automobile market and customization processes.
- SAP Knowledge: Proficiency in SAP and relevant modules, including procurement and supply chain management.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of supply chain management principles, procurement processes, and automotive manufacturing requirements. Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of achieving cost reductions and improving supplier agreements.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
