Job Description:
A Turbine DCS Engineer monitors and controls turbine operations via a Distributed Control System (DCS) for efficient and safe performance in power plants or industrial facilities. Responsibilities include operating the DCS, troubleshooting equipment, monitoring parameters like speed and temperature, performing start-up and shutdown sequences, maintaining logs, and coordinating with other teams. The role requires a background in mechanical engineering, experience with turbines and thermal power plants, and knowledge of DCS and PLC systems. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • DCS Operation: 
    Operate and maintain the central control system to manage turbine performance. 
     
  • Monitoring & Control: 
    Monitor critical parameters such as speed, pressure, temperature, and vibration to ensure optimal operation. 
     
  • Operational Procedures: 
    Execute start-up, synchronization, load variation, and shutdown of turbines according to standard operating procedures (SOPs). 
     
  • Coordination: 
    Coordinate with boiler and electrical teams to adjust turbine operations based on plant and grid requirements. 
     
  • Troubleshooting: 
    Respond to alarms and abnormal conditions, taking corrective actions to maintain system stability. 
     
  • Data Management: 
    Record and maintain operational data, logs, and shift reports. 
     
  • Maintenance: 
    Perform routine maintenance and ensure compliance with safety regulations for the DCS and related instrumentation. 
     
Qualifications
  • Education: Typically a diploma or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. 
     
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in turbine operations, preferably in thermal power plants. 
     
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with DCS and PLC systems, field instrumentation, and maintenance procedures. 
     
Work Environment
  • Works in a control room environment at a power plant or manufacturing facility. 
     
  • Requires strong communication skills to interact with other control room and field personnel.
