Job Description:
An Electrician for a Steel Melting Shop (SMS) in a steel company handles the installation, preventive maintenance, and breakdown repair of high/low-voltage industrial equipment, including EOT cranes, furnaces (EAF/LRF), and motors. They troubleshoot, maintain control panels, and ensure electrical safety compliance to minimize production downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance and rapid breakdown repairs on electrical systems (LT/HT panels, transformers, drives).
- Troubleshooting: Identify and fix faults in cranes, induction/arc furnaces, and motor control centers (MCC).
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to strict safety norms, perform safety checks, and maintain safety records.
- Operations Coordination: Collaborate with production teams to reduce downtime and ensure continuous operation of machinery.
- Documentation: Maintain daily logbooks for maintenance activities and prepare material indents for spares.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: ITI or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: 4 to 6+ years in heavy industrial environments, preferably in a Steel Melting Shop.
- Knowledge: Expertise in LT/HT line maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, and reading technical drawings.
- Physical Ability: Ability to work in challenging industrial environments.
