Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Buyer to manage the procurement of piping materials and equipment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing piping products in accordance with company policies, project specifications, and industry standards to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Procurement & Sourcing
  • Source and purchase piping materials such as pipes, fittings, flanges, valves, etc.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard qualified suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Request and analyze quotations, proposals, and bids; negotiate pricing and commercial terms.
  • Ensure purchases comply with ASME, ASTM, API, and project-specific requirements.
  • Create and manage Purchase Orders (POs) through the ERP system.
  1. Supplier Management
  • Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Monitor supplier performance based on quality, on-time delivery, and responsiveness.
  • Conduct supplier audits and evaluations to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Resolve supplier-related issues such as delays, quality issues, or non-compliance.
  1. Order Management & Coordination
  • Track orders and expedite shipments to meet project deadlines.
  • Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams for delivery and inventory management.
  • Collaborate with project, engineering, and sales teams to understand material needs.
  • Maintain proper documentation of purchase transactions.
  1. Cost Control & Negotiation
  • Monitor market trends and pricing fluctuations to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers without compromising quality.
  • Assist in procurement budgeting and forecasting activities.
  1. Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all purchased materials meet compliance, technical, and quality standards.
  • Review Mill Test Certificates (MTCs) and other technical documents.
  • Liaise with the QA/QC team to inspect and verify materials before acceptance.
  1. Reporting & Analysis
  • Prepare and submit procurement reports (cost savings, supplier performance, etc.).
  • Maintain procurement records for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Identify and recommend areas for improvement in the procurement process.

Key Requirements

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Procurement/Supply Chain certifications (e.g., CIPSCSCP) are a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in procurement, specifically for piping products.
  • Industry background in oil & gas, energy, or construction sectors.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).

Technical Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of piping materials, specifications, and international standards (ASME, ASTM, API, ISO).
  • Familiarity with supply chain operations, vendor audits, and logistics coordination.
  • Strong in negotiation, pricing analysis, and problem-solving.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a high-pressure environment.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and able to work independently as well as in a team.
