Job Purpose: The Electrical Executive is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical systems and equipment within the chemical plant. This role involves overseeing maintenance activities, implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, troubleshooting electrical issues, and contributing to new project installations and upgrades, all while adhering to stringent safety and quality standards prevalent in the chemical industry.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operations & Maintenance:
- Routine Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, motors, VFDs, control panels, lighting systems, and earthing systems, to identify potential issues and ensure optimal performance.
- Breakdown Maintenance: Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns, diagnose faults efficiently, and execute timely repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Preventive & Predictive Maintenance: Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and predictive maintenance (PdM) techniques (e.g., thermography, vibration analysis for electrical components) for all electrical assets.
- Troubleshooting: Expertly troubleshoot complex electrical issues in power distribution systems, motor control circuits, instrumentation loops, and plant automation systems.
- Spares Management: Manage critical electrical spare parts inventory, ensuring availability while optimizing stock levels. Coordinate with procurement for timely ordering.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all electrical maintenance activities, equipment history, breakdown reports, and energy consumption data.
2. Projects & Upgrades:
- Installation & Commissioning: Supervise and execute the installatiVDon, testing, and commissioning of new electrical equipment, machinery, and plant expansions, ensuring compliance with design specifications and safety regulations.
- Modification & Upgrades: Plan and implement electrical modifications and upgrades to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety of existing systems.
- Vendor Coordination: Liaise with vendors and contractors for the supply, installation, and servicing of electrical equipment, ensuring quality and adherence to project timelines.
- Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams (SLDs), panel layouts, and other engineering drawings. Prepare / update as-built drawings.
3. Safety & Compliance:
- Safety Adherence: Strictly adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and statutory regulations (e.g., Electrical Safety Rules, PESO guidelines where applicable).
- Hazard Identification: Identify potential electrical hazards and implement corrective actions to ensure a safe working environment.
- Permit to Work (PTW): Ensure strict adherence to the Permit to Work system for all electrical maintenance activities, especially those involving live work or confined spaces.
- Audits: Participate in internal and external safety audits, electrical inspections, and statutory compliance checks.
- Emergency Response: Be proficient in handling electrical emergencies, including power outages, short circuits, and equipment failures.
4. Energy Management:
- Energy Efficiency: Identify opportunities for energy conservation and implement measures to optimize electrical energy consumption across the plant.
- Monitoring: Monitor electrical load patterns and power quality to ensure stable and efficient power distribution.
5. Team Collaboration & Development:
- Supervision: Provide technical guidance and supervision to electrical technicians and contract staff.
- Training: Contribute to the training and development of junior electrical staff on best practices, safety procedures, and new technologies.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other departments (Production, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Projects) to ensure smooth plant operations.
