Hydrology Expert
Job Description:
- Conduct hydrological and hydraulic studies for natural drains, rivers, streams, and cross drainage structures along the proposed highway alignment.
- Analyze historical rainfall data, runoff characteristics, catchment areas, and flood levels.
- Prepare design discharge calculations for bridges, culverts, and causeways.
- Recommend appropriate sizes and types of cross drainage and longitudinal drainage structures.
- Liaise with structural and highway design teams to ensure integration of hydrology inputs with project designs.
- Ensure all designs comply with IRC, MoRTH, and BIS standards.
- Support the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPR) and Feasibility Reports with respect to hydrology.
- Assess flood plain mapping, drainage pattern impacts, and provide mitigation solutions.
- Coordinate with local water resource departments, irrigation authorities, and environmental experts for approvals and data inputs.
- Review and validate hydraulic models using HEC-RAS, SWMM, or similar software (if applicable).
- Assist in preparing BOQs, cost estimates, and drawings for drainage and flood protection works.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Sound understanding of hydrology and drainage engineering principles.
- Proficiency in hydrological modeling software/tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, MIKE-11, SWMM, etc.
- Knowledge of IRC:5, IRC:SP:13, IRC:SP:42, IRC:SP:50, MoRTH specifications and BIS codes.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
- Familiarity with GIS, remote sensing, and topographic mapping is an advantage.
Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams in a time-bound environment.
