NOC L2 Engineer
Job Description:
- Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot network alarms, events, and performance metrics using NMS/EMS tools.
- Handle escalated issues from L1 engineers and resolve or escalate to L3 when required.
- Perform configuration, maintenance, and health checks on core routers, switches, firewalls, BRAS, CGNAT, and access network elements (OLT, L2 & L3 Switches).
- Troubleshoot Layer 2/3 network issues – OSPF, BGP, MPLS, PPPoE, VLANs, etc.
- Coordinate with field teams and vendors for fault resolution and maintenance activities.
- Maintain network documentation and update incident/issue trackers and logs.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and prepare incident reports for major outages.
- Participate in network upgrades, migrations, and deployment of new services.
- Provide support for scheduled maintenance and emergency changes, including after-hours or on-call as required.
- Ensure SLA compliance and assist in customer impact analysis during downtime or performance degradation.
Desired Profile / Criteria / Skills :
Technical Skills & Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in NOC/NMS operations within an ISP or telecom environment.
- Strong understanding of IP networking (IPv4/IPv6), routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), MPLS, VLAN, NAT, DNS, DHCP.
- Hands-on experience with Nokia,Cisco, Juniper, MikroTik, Huawei, or similar network devices.
- Familiarity with broadband technologies (FTTH, GPON, PPPoE).
- Experience with monitoring tools like SolarWinds, Zabbix, Nagios, Cacti, or proprietary EMS/NMS platforms.
- Basic Linux CLI knowledge for troubleshooting network systems.
