Job Description:

The Shaper Man operates shaping machines to machine and finish various rolling mill components such as rolls, shafts, keys, and other heavy steel parts. This role is critical for ensuring that mill components meet precise dimensional and surface finish requirements to maintain smooth rolling operations.

📌 Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and set up shaping machines for machining flat surfaces, grooves, keyways, and slots on rolling mill components.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications for machining tasks.

• Adjust tools and machine settings to achieve required dimensions and surface finishes.

• Measure machined parts using precision instruments like micrometers, vernier calipers, and gauges to ensure compliance with tolerances.

• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of shaping machines.

• Handle heavy workpieces safely using overhead cranes or hoists as necessary.

• Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to ensure timely completion of machining jobs.

• Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Maintain documentation of work done and report any machine faults or issues to supervisors.

🧠 Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Minimum 10th pass, ITI in Machine Tool Operation / Fitter / Turner or equivalent is preferred.

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.

• Proficient in using measuring instruments (micrometers, vernier calipers).

• Good understanding of machining parameters like feed, speed, and depth of cut.

• Physically fit to work in industrial environments with heavy components.

• Strong focus on safety and teamwork.

• Willingness to work in rotating shifts if required.
