Job Description:

The Welder Workshop in the Rolling Mill department is responsible for performing welding, fabrication, and repair work on rolling mill equipment and related structures. The role requires strong welding skills, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work in coordination with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure the rolling mill operates efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform various welding tasks including arc welding, MIG, TIG, and oxy-fuel welding on mill components and workshop equipment.

• Repair and fabricate metal parts, rolls, frames, and structural components used in the rolling mill.

• Inspect welds and metal structures for quality and durability, ensuring compliance with specifications.

• Assist in dismantling and assembling rolling mill machinery parts that require welding.

• Follow welding blueprints, technical drawings, and instructions from supervisors.

• Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition.

• Work closely with maintenance teams to provide timely welding support during machine breakdowns.

• Adhere strictly to safety guidelines, including wearing PPE and ensuring a safe work environment.

• Keep the workshop clean and organized, disposing of scrap metals and waste properly.

• Report any welding defects or safety hazards immediately.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Proven experience as a welder in an industrial or rolling mill environment.

• Skilled in multiple welding techniques (Arc, MIG, TIG, oxy-fuel).

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.

• Knowledge of metal types used in rolling mills and appropriate welding methods.

• Good hand-eye coordination and physical stamina.

• Strong focus on safety and quality standards.

• Ability to work under pressure and in a team environment.

• Basic understanding of workshop tools and machinery.

Work Environment:

• Industrial rolling mill workshop with exposure to noise, heat, sparks, and heavy machinery.

• Requires adherence to strict safety protocols and PPE usage.

• May involve shift work or overtime during urgent maintenance.
