Job Description:
A T.G. (Turbo-Generator) DCS Engineer for a power plant is responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Distributed Control System (DCS) that controls the turbine and its auxiliary systems. Key duties include using the DCS to manage turbine operations, responding to alarms, performing start-up and shutdown procedures, troubleshooting malfunctions, and ensuring overall safety and efficiency in power generation.
Core responsibilities

DCS operation and control:Monitor and control the turbine and Balance of Plant (BOP) systems (like condensers and feedwater) using the DCS platform to ensure optimal performance.

Alarm and process management:Respond promptly to alarms and process deviations to maintain plant stability.

Maintenance and troubleshooting:Troubleshoot DCS-related issues and equipment malfunctions, performing necessary maintenance, and coordinating with instrumentation and maintenance teams.

Safety and efficiency:Ensure safe startup and shutdown procedures and implement corrective actions to improve plant efficiency and reliability.

Documentation:Maintain accurate logs and equipment history databases.

Coordination:Work with other teams and potentially supervise contractors on control system-related projects.
Key skills and qualifications
- Proficiency with various DCS platforms (e.g., Siemens, ABB, Yokogawa, Honeywell).
- Knowledge of power plant turbine and BOP systems.
- Ability to monitor and analyze process data.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for both hardware and software.
- Familiarity with control loops, field instrumentation, and valves.
- Often requires a Boiler Operation Engineer (BOE) certificate.
