Job Description:
A project manager for a fabrication job is responsible for the planning, execution, and completion of fabrication projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards. Key duties include managing project schedules, budgets, and resources; coordinating with clients, engineering, and production teams; and ensuring compliance with safety and quality regulations.
Core responsibilities

Project management:Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from inception to completion, including scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management.

Cross-functional coordination:Act as the main point of contact between clients, engineering, production, quality assurance, and other departments to ensure seamless communication and execution.

Schedule and budget control:Develop and manage project schedules, track progress, and handle unforeseen issues by creating recovery plans to keep projects on track and within budget.

Quality and safety compliance:Ensure all work meets client specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, and promote a strong safety culture within the team.

Risk and stakeholder management:Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies. Communicate project status, risks, and milestones to internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting:Prepare periodic reports on project performance, costs, and progress for senior management and clients.
Required skills and qualifications

Leadership:Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.

Technical knowledge:Strong understanding of fabrication processes, procedures, and relevant equipment. Knowledge of specific standards (e.g., AWS D1. 5, AISC) is often required.

Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication skills for liaising with various stakeholders.

Problem-solving:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address issues that arise during a project.

Software proficiency:Experience with project management software and CAD is often beneficial.
