Key responsibilities
  • Policy and procedure: Develop, implement, and enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures to meet legal and company requirements.
  • Inspections and risk assessment: Conduct regular site and equipment inspections to identify potential hazards in areas like rolling, welding, and finishing, and perform risk assessments to recommend preventative measures.
  • Incident investigation: Investigate all workplace accidents, near-misses, and safety-related incidents. Prepare detailed reports, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Training and education: Organize and conduct safety training, drills, and awareness programs for employees on topics such as proper use of machinery, personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency procedures.
  • Compliance and record-keeping: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and national safety and environmental regulations. Maintain accurate and confidential records of inspections, training, incidents, and safety audits.
  • Emergency preparedness: Support and participate in emergency preparedness and response efforts, such as fire drills and first-aid provisions.
  • Equipment oversight: Monitor the condition of safety equipment and tools, and ensure any necessary repairs, maintenance, or replacements are completed promptly.
  • Liaison: Act as a point of contact with regulatory bodies and government agencies on safety-related matters.
  • Culture promotion: Proactively promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization, encouraging a mindset where safety is a priority for all employees.
