							Job Description:
Position:        Tool Room Manager
Location:       Umbergaon
Experience:   7 - 10 Years
Industries:    Plastic
Responsibilities:
- Operational management
- Supervise the daily activities of the tool room, including the issuance, return, and storage of tools.
- Plan and schedule tool manufacturing, maintenance, and repair activities to support production goals.
- Provide technical advice and support to production and engineering departments on tooling- related issues.
- Oversee projects for the development of new tooling for manufacturing.
- Inventory and asset control
- Implement and manage a robust inventory control system for all tools, inserts, spares, and raw materials.
- Maintain accurate records of tool usage, repairs, and inventory levels to track assets and minimize loss.
- Conduct regular tool inspections and audits to ensure quality and operational readiness.
- Manage the procurement of new tools, equipment, and consumables, and track spending against budget.
- Team leadership and development
- Hire, train, and manage a team of toolmakers, technicians, and apprentices.
- Set department objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs), and evaluate staff performance.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and productivity within the tool room.
- Quality and safety
- Enforce compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, and conduct risk assessments of tool room processes.
- Ensure that all tools meet established quality standards and comply with industry regulations.
- Implement a preventative and predictive maintenance program to maximize tool life and minimize equipment failures.
- Collaboration and communication
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to optimize tool design and resolve technical problems.
- Liaise with external suppliers and vendors for tool development, material procurement, and outsourcing.
- Provide reports and presentations to senior management on tool room performance.
Required Skills:
- Technical Skills: Strong technical knowledge of tool design, machining processes (e.g., CNC, EDM), and maintenance management.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Leadership Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills.
- Analytical Abilities: Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Financial Acumen: Experience with budget management, cost control, and procurement.
Required Qualification: - B.E/B.Tech - Mechanical/Plastic
