Job Description:
A WHRB DCS Operator/Engineer job involves operating and monitoring a Waste Heat Recovery Boiler (WHRB) using a Distributed Control System (DCS) in a power plant setting, typically within an iron and steel or similar industrial facility. Responsibilities include operating the boiler through the DCS, performing regular maintenance and repair on control systems, monitoring plant equipment, troubleshooting operational issues, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. Key skills are a strong understanding of DCS, PLC, SCADA systems, and knowledge of boiler and turbine operations.
Primary responsibilities
- DCS Operation: Operate and monitor the boiler through the DCS interface.
- System Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance and repair on all DCS, PLC, and field instrumentation equipment.
- Monitoring and Control: Monitor and control plant equipment, and adjust settings to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve operational issues to minimize downtime.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of equipment history and integrity.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with plant safety protocols and regulations.
Key skills and qualifications
- Education: A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a Diploma is typically required.
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience as a DCS operator in a power plant is often necessary.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with DCS, PLC, and SCADA systems.
- Ability to create control loops and operating screens.
- Familiarity with various flow meters (e.g., magnetic, vortex, DP type).
- Knowledge of boiler and steam turbine systems is beneficial.
- Soft Skills: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities are essential.
