Job Description:
A 5 TPH (tonnes per hour) Boiler Operator job description involves the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and monitoring of a 5 TPH boiler system. Key duties include controlling boiler parameters like pressure and temperature, performing routine maintenance, conducting regular inspections, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, responding to emergencies, and maintaining accurate operational and maintenance records. The role requires a good understanding of boiler systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work with both manual systems and, potentially, a Distributed Control System (DCS).
Core responsibilities
- Operation and monitoring: Start up, regulate, and shut down boilers and auxiliary equipment. Monitor and adjust controls to maintain optimal pressure, temperature, fuel levels, and steam production.
- Maintenance and inspection: Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential issues. Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on the boiler and associated equipment, such as pumps, valves, and piping.
- Safety and compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies. Ensure compliance with local, state, and national safety codes.
- Emergency response: Respond promptly to alarms and emergency situations, and implement emergency shutdown procedures when necessary.
- Water treatment: Maintain boiler water quality and chemical levels according to guidelines.
- Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate daily logs of boiler operations, maintenance, inspections, and water quality testing. Compile and submit reports as required.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot mechanical or operational problems. Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to resolve complex issues.
- Efficiency optimization: Implement measures to improve the energy efficiency of the boiler system.
Qualifications and skills
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Previous experience in boiler operation or a related industrial/mechanical field.
- Certifications: A Boiler Operator license or certification, as required by local authorities.
- Technical skills: Strong understanding of boiler systems, controls, and safety protocols. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Problem-solving: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Other skills: Attention to detail, strong communication and teamwork, and the ability to perform manual labor.
