Job Summary

 

The Finance Controller is the senior-most financial professional responsible for overseeing all financial operations, maintaining fiscal integrity, and providing strategic financial leadership for the hotel. This role ensures the accuracy of financial records, compliance with all regulatory requirements, and the effective management of the hotel's assets and liabilities to maximize profitability and support the hotel's strategic goals.


 

Key Responsibilities

 

 

Financial Reporting & Compliance

 

  • Monthly/Annual Closing: Oversee the entire month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).

  • Audit Management: Act as the primary liaison for internal and external auditors. Ensure compliance with all accounting standards (e.g., GAAP/IFRS), tax laws, and government regulations.

  • Internal Controls: Establish, document, and maintain strong internal control policies and procedures to safeguard the hotel's assets and prevent fraud.

  • Tax Compliance: Monitor and ensure timely filing and compliance with all local, state, and central taxes (GST, Income Tax, TDS, etc.).

 

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

 

  • Budgeting: Lead the annual budgeting process for all hotel departments in collaboration with the General Manager and Department Heads.

  • Forecasting: Prepare weekly and monthly financial forecasts (e.g., revenue, expenses, cash flow) and track actual performance against budgets, reporting variances to management.

  • Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed financial analysis of hotel operations, identifying trends, cost-saving opportunities, and revenue-enhancement strategies.

 

Operational Finance & Hospitality Focus

 

  • Revenue Control: Oversee the daily revenue audit process to ensure the accurate and complete capture of all hotel revenue (rooms, F&B, banquets, spa, etc.).

  • Cost Control: Monitor and manage the inventory and cost control system for key areas like Food & Beverage (F&B) and Operating Supplies and Equipment (OS&E).

  • Cash & Capital Management: Manage the hotel's cash flow, monitor working capital, and assist with the evaluation of capital expenditure proposals (ROI analysis).

  • Accounts Management: Supervise Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), ensuring efficient vendor payment and proactive customer credit/collections.

 

Leadership & Management

 

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the Finance and Accounting team, ensuring high performance, accurate execution of tasks, and professional development.

  • Provide financial guidance and support to all Department Heads to ensure financial targets are understood and met.


 

Required Qualifications & Skills

 

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Professional certification is highly desirable (e.g., CA, ICWA, CPA).

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in financial management, with significant experience in the Hospitality or Hotel industry is a strong plus.

  • Proven knowledge of Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI) is a major advantage.

 

Skills & Competencies

 

  • Strong knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Tally, or specific hotel PMS/Accounting systems).

  • Exceptional leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel for complex financial modeling and analysis.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present financial data to non-finance management.

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
