Job Description:
A lifeguard's job is to ensure the safety of people in or near water by supervising them, enforcing rules, and responding to emergencies like rescues and first aid. Other duties include monitoring water quality, performing facility maintenance, and assisting patrons with various needs.
Core responsibilities

Supervise swimmers:Watch the water closely to prevent accidents, identify hazards, and ensure all patrons follow facility rules.

Respond to emergencies:Administer first aid, CPR, and other rescue techniques when a swimmer is in distress or an accident occurs.

Enforce rules:Consistently and professionally enforce all pool rules and regulations to maintain a safe environment.

Emergency preparation:Be ready to activate the Emergency Action Plan and have a thorough understanding of emergency procedures.
Facility and maintenance duties

Perform chemical tests:Test and treat pool water to ensure correct chemical levels for safety and sanitation.

Maintain cleanliness:Keep the pool area, equipment, and surrounding facilities clean and tidy.

Inspect equipment:Regularly check that all safety equipment, such as rescue buoys and AEDs, is in proper working order.

Manage facility operations:Open and close the facility, assist with special events, and monitor weather conditions.
Patron interaction

Provide assistance:Help patrons when necessary and provide information about services and activities.

Promote safety:Offer advice on water safety and create a welcoming and positive environment for all guests.

Handle discipline:Address and manage situations involving unruly behavior in a fair and courteous manner.
