Job Description:
An Assistant Shift Incharge for a DRI (Direct Reduced Iron) Process role involves supervising a production shift by monitoring and adjusting process parameters, managing staff, ensuring quality control, and enforcing safety protocols. The job requires a focus on production targets, cost control, and ensuring that equipment is maintained and operational throughout the shift. 
 
Key responsibilities
  • Production and operational management:
    • Monitor the DRI production process, including parameters like temperature, pressure, and material feed, to ensure targets are met.
    • Plan daily production and manage the shift's overall workflow.
    • Adjust operational settings to optimize efficiency and output.
  • Staff supervision and management:
    • Assign tasks and responsibilities to the shift crew.
    • Provide guidance and on-the-job training to employees.
    • Ensure staff adhere to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Quality assurance:
    • Ensure the quality and quantity of the DRI product meet set standards.
    • Collect and analyze product samples to verify specifications.
    • Liaise with lab technicians for testing and reporting.
  • Safety and compliance:
    • Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
    • Conduct regular checks and respond to any safety-related issues.
  • Maintenance and reporting:
    • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment runs smoothly.
    • Ensure shutdown maintenance is carried out as scheduled.
    • Prepare and submit shift-wise reports and maintain proper records of shift activities. 
 
Required skills and experience
  • Experience in the DRI or sponge iron industry.
  • Knowledge of DRI production processes.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team.
  • Skills in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • Experience with cost control.
