Job Description:
A pipe fabricator's job description involves cutting, shaping, bending, and welding pipes and fittings according to blueprints and technical drawings to create functional piping systems. Core responsibilities

Interpreting plans:Read and understand blueprints, technical drawings, and isometric sketches to follow project specifications accurately.

Cutting and shaping:Cut, bend, and shape pipes and fittings to the required sizes and angles using tools like saws, benders, and bevelling machines.

Welding and assembly:Weld or tack-weld components together, creating watertight seals to assemble the pipe network.

Installation:Install piping systems in industrial, commercial, or residential settings, often securing pipes to structures with brackets and clamps.

Quality control:Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality, safety, and code standards, performing tests for leaks as needed.

Maintenance and repair:Perform routine maintenance and repair on existing piping systems to keep them in good working order.

Safety:Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe work environment for themselves and others.
Required skills and knowledge
- Proficiency with pipe fabrication tools such as saws, benders, pipe threading machines, and welding equipment.
- Knowledge of different pipe materials, like steel, stainless steel, and various alloys.
- Understanding of welding techniques.
- Ability to measure and mark pipes accurately.
- Experience working from technical drawings.
- Ability to perform site measurements and sketches.
- Physical strength and stamina for tasks like lifting heavy materials and working in various positions (standing, stooping, kneeling).
- Communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with other team members, such as welders, pipefitters, and engineers.
- Familiarity with record-keeping for work performed and materials used.
