Job Description:

 

A GM Commercial for a Rolling Mill oversees all business, financial, and sales aspects, driving profitability by managing production costs, procurement, logistics, sales strategy, and contracts, bridging operations (production, quality, maintenance) with market demands for steel products like TMT bars, ensuring efficiency, quality, and growth. Key duties include cost control, raw material sourcing, pricing, contract negotiation, P&L management, team leadership, and aligning technical goals with commercial targets for success. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial Strategy: Develop business plans, budgets, and sales forecasts; drive revenue growth and market share.
  • Operations & Cost Control: Collaborate with operations to optimize production, minimize waste (cobble), control fuel/power, and manage raw material costs.
  • Procurement & Logistics: Manage strategic sourcing, vendor negotiations, inventory, and efficient delivery of finished goods.
  • Sales & Marketing: Lead sales teams, develop pricing strategies, manage customer relationships, and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, cost analysis, P&L, and financial reporting for the rolling mill division.
  • Contract & Compliance: Review and negotiate contracts (vendors/customers) and ensure adherence to regulations and quality standards (ISO).
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor commercial, sales, procurement, and potentially operational teams. 
 
Essential Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience: Extensive experience (15+ years) in steel/rolling mill operations, techno-commercial roles, or related leadership.
  • Education: Relevant Engineering (Mechanical/Metallurgy) or Business degree.
  • Technical Acumen: Understanding of rolling mill processes, quality control, cost optimization, and furnace operations.
  • Business Skills: Strong negotiation, financial analysis, strategic planning, problem-solving, and communication.
