Job Description:
A Head of Purchasing (or Procurement) oversees all buying activities, developing strategies to get the best quality goods/services at the right price, managing supplier relations, controlling budgets, leading the purchasing team, and ensuring supply chain efficiency, all while aligning procurement with company goals and minimizing risks. Key duties include strategy, vendor negotiation, cost control, inventory oversight, and cross-functional collaboration with teams like operations and finance.
Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership:Develop and implement purchasing strategies, manage the procurement budget, and lead/manage the purchasing team.

Supplier Management:Source, evaluate, and select new vendors; negotiate contracts, pricing, and payment terms; build strong, long-term relationships.

Cost & Quality Control:Analyze market trends, identify cost-saving opportunities, ensure procured items meet quality standards, and manage supplier performance.

Operations:Oversee purchase orders, track deliveries, manage inventory levels, and ensure timely fulfillment to avoid shortages.

Collaboration:Work with internal teams (Finance, Operations, Marketing) to understand needs and align procurement with business objectives.

Reporting & Compliance:Prepare reports for management, monitor procurement metrics, and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing and procurement.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication abilities.
- Knowledge of procurement software and trends.
