Job Description:
A Mechanical Engineer in a cement plant ensures maximum machinery uptime (kilns, crushers, mills, conveyors) by managing preventive/predictive maintenance, diagnosing breakdowns, and supervising repairs. Key responsibilities include overseeing heavy machinery maintenance, implementing safety protocols, managing inventory for repairs, and conducting shutdown planning to ensure high operational efficiency and reliability.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintenance Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement preventive, predictive (vibration, oil analysis), and corrective maintenance programs for all mechanical systems.
- Equipment Management: Supervise maintenance of critical cement machinery: crushers (lime stone, coal), vertical roller mills, ball mills, conveyors, fans, packing plants, and rotary kilns.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose root causes of mechanical failures and specify repair methods to minimize downtime.
- Shutdown Management: Plan and execute plant shutdowns for major overhauls and maintenance.
- Documentation & Safety: Maintain accurate, detailed records of equipment history and repair costs. Enforce strict safety protocols.
- Project Engineering: Oversee installation and erection of new machinery, including structural work (ducting, cyclones, hoppers).
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within a cement or heavy manufacturing plant.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, vendor data sheets, and equipment manuals.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in CAD and maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Leadership: Strong team leadership to coordinate maintenance technicians and external contractors.
