Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Factory Manager – Knitting Products is responsible for overseeing end-to-end factory operations, ensuring efficient production of knitted fabrics/garments while maintaining quality standards, cost control, safety compliance, and timely delivery. The role involves managing manpower, machines, materials, and processes to achieve production targets and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities:

Production & Operations:

  • Plan, organize, and control daily knitting production to meet output and delivery schedules.

  • Ensure optimal utilization of knitting machines (circular, flat knitting, warp knitting as applicable).

  • Monitor production efficiency, downtime, and productivity KPIs.

  • Coordinate with planning, merchandising, and dispatch teams for smooth workflow.

Quality Management:

  • Implement and maintain quality standards for knitted fabrics/garments.

  • Ensure adherence to buyer specifications, GSM, shrinkage, color, and defect standards.

  • Handle internal and external quality audits and corrective actions.

Manpower Management:

  • Lead and manage production supervisors, technicians, operators, and support staff.

  • Ensure adequate manpower planning, training, and skill development.

  • Monitor attendance, discipline, productivity, and performance evaluation.

Maintenance & Engineering:

  • Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance of knitting machines and utilities.

  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to reduce machine downtime.

  • Monitor spare parts inventory and machine efficiency.

Cost & Inventory Control:

  • Control production costs, wastage, and rework.

  • Monitor raw material consumption (yarn, chemicals, accessories).

  • Ensure effective inventory management and stock accuracy.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, statutory norms, and factory regulations.

  • Maintain health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.

  • Ensure readiness for social compliance and buyer audits.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Implement process improvements, lean manufacturing, and productivity enhancement initiatives.

  • Drive cost reduction and efficiency improvement projects.

  • Adopt best practices in knitting technology and production methods.
