Job Description:
A Head of Fabrication Plant manages all plant operations, focusing on leading teams, ensuring quality & safety, optimizing production schedules, controlling costs, and driving continuous improvement (Lean/TPM) in metal/structural fabrication, requiring strong leadership, technical knowledge, and experience in quality systems (APQP, FMEA) to meet delivery targets and project goals from planning to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations Management: Oversee daily fabrication, production planning, resource allocation, and daily process checks to meet output goals.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce quality standards (ISO, TQM, FMEA) from raw material to finished product, ensuring compliance and customer satisfaction.
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, train, and develop supervisors and craftspeople, fostering a positive, skilled, and efficient workforce.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and standards.
- Process Improvement: Drive Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and 5S initiatives to boost productivity, reduce waste, cut costs, and improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
- Project & Budget Management: Define project scope, manage timelines, allocate resources, control budgets, and coordinate with design/engineering for seamless project execution.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute business plans, set KPIs, prepare management reports (MIS), and identify strategic improvements for growth.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven managerial experience in heavy/light engineering fabrication, structural, or sheet metal manufacturing.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong grasp of fabrication processes (rolling, galvanizing, welding, etc.), quality systems (APQP, PPAP), and Lean principles.
- Leadership: Excellent leadership, coaching, team-building, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Education: Engineering or Business degree often preferred.
