Job Description:
Position: GM - Purchase
Location: Mumbai
Experience: 15 - 20 Years
Industries: Chemical
Responsibilities:

Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business, production, and expansion plans.
- Lead centralized purchase operations for Agro and specialty chemical manufacturing units.
- Act as a strategic partner to operations, engineering, and finance teams.
- Coordinate with engineering and project teams for technical evaluations and finalization.
- Ensure uninterrupted supply to support production planning and plant operations.
- Develop alternate sourcing strategies to mitigate supply risks.
- Identify, evaluate, develop, and onboard qualified vendors and manufacturers.
- Lead high-value commercial negotiations to achieve cost competitiveness and favorable payment terms.
- Establish long-term contracts and rate agreements with key suppliers.
- Drive cost-reduction initiatives through value engineering, vendor rationalization, and bulk sourcing.
- Support working capital optimization through effective inventory and payment term management.
- Handle purchase of chemical process equipment such as reactors, centrifuges, distillation columns, heat
- Exchanges, dryers, scrubbers, storage tanks, pipelines, and automation systems.
- Manage procurement of CAPEX items, plant expansions, revamps, and project-related purchases.
- Monitor purchase budgets, price trends, and market intelligence.
- Ensure procurement compliance with company policies, EHS standards, and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with quality teams for vendor audits, approvals, and material specifications.
- Ensure documentation and audit readiness for internal and external audits.
- Ensure effective use of ERP systems (SAP / Oracle / Tally / other) for procurement transactions.
- Prepare and present MIS reports on savings, vendor performance, lead times, and procurement efficiency.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the purchase and procurement team.
- Build a performance-driven and compliance-focused procurement culture.
Required Skills:

In-depth knowledge of chemical equipment and plant requirements
- Strong vendor development and contract management skills
- Understanding of manufacturing cost structures
- ERP-driven procurement and MIS reporting
- Knowledge of GST, customs (if applicable), and statutory purchase compliances
Required Qualification: - B.E/B.Tech - Chemical/Mechanical/MBA /PGDM in Meterials Management
