Job Description:
A Cook for a girls' hostel prepares nutritious, hygienic, and tasty daily meals (breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner) based on a set menu. Key duties include inventory management, maintaining strict kitchen cleanliness, operating cooking equipment safely, and ensuring food quality. Previous experience in residential or institutional catering is typically required.
Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation: Cooking daily meals, including chopping, seasoning, and preparing ingredients for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, ensuring quality and taste.
- Hygiene & Sanitation: Maintaining strict cleanliness of the kitchen, dining area, utensils, and food storage, adhering to food safety standards.
- Menu Adherence: Following a pre-set hostel menu and ensuring nutritious and balanced meals are provided.
- Inventory Control: Managing kitchen supplies, assisting with the receipt of groceries, and minimizing food waste.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operating and cleaning kitchen equipment (stoves, refrigerators, grinders) safely.
- Safety & Compliance: Following all health, safety, and sanitation protocols.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Prior experience as a cook in a hostel, school, hotel, or mess is highly preferred.
- Skills: Knowledge of varied, nutritious, and home-style cooking.
- Hygiene Awareness: Strict adherence to personal and kitchen hygiene.
- Attributes: Punctuality, cleanliness, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
