Job Description:
An MEP Engineer for Real Estate plans, designs, and oversees Mechanical (HVAC), Electrical (power, lighting, fire alarm), and Plumbing (water, drainage, fire suppression) systems in buildings, ensuring functionality, efficiency, and code compliance from design to installation, coordinating with architects, contractors, and managing budgets, quality, and safety for a comfortable, safe, and functional property.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Planning: Develop and review MEP drawings, calculations (load, flow), and specifications for HVAC, electrical distribution, lighting, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Coordination: Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and construction teams to integrate MEP systems seamlessly with building design.
- Site Supervision: Monitor on-site installation, conduct quality control checks, and resolve technical issues as they arise.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure adherence to local building codes, safety regulations (like NEC), and industry standards.
- Procurement: Assist with bidding, vendor selection, and managing MEP-related materials and equipment.
- Testing & Commissioning: Oversee testing and commissioning of all MEP equipment to ensure proper function.
- Budget & Documentation: Manage MEP budgets, track costs, document changes, and maintain project records.
- Sustainability: Implement energy-efficient and sustainable solutions where possible.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in construction/real estate projects (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
- Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit) and calculation tools.
- Strong understanding of MEP codes (NEC, IPC) and safety standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
