Job Description:
An EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) Engineer for Real Estate is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety and environmental programs across real estate projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and promoting a safe work environment. 
 
Core Responsibilities and Duties
  • Policy and Program Development: Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific EHS policies, procedures, and safety management plans in line with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Risk Management and Auditing: Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments (including Job Hazard Analysis - JHA) to identify potential hazards and assess existing safety programs. Implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, Factory Acts, NBC, NFPA, ISO 45001). Maintain safety documentation, reports, and coordinate with statutory bodies for necessary clearances.
  • Incident Management: Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures. Manage an effective incident reporting system and ensure timely closure of action items.
  • Training and Culture: Organize and deliver EHS training, including safety inductions and toolbox talks, to employees, contractors, and visitors. Promote a proactive safety culture across all project stages.
  • Contractor Safety Management: Oversee contractor safety programs, review their safety documentation (e.g., lifting plans, work permits), and ensure they comply with site safety requirements.
  • Environmental Management: Implement environmental management practices, including waste disposal, pollution control, air quality, noise monitoring, and sustainability compliance.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Establish and maintain site emergency plans and procedures, conducting reviews and updates at regular intervals. 
 
Key Qualifications and Skills
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, etc.) or a related field (Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety) is typically required.
  • Experience: Relevant experience in safety management, particularly in real estate, construction, or industrial projects (typically 3-8 years depending on the role level).
  • Certifications: Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or ISO 45001/14001 are often preferred or mandatory.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of EHS regulations, risk assessment methodologies, and safety standards.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are essential for collaborating with various stakeholders and training staff.
  • Mobility: The role may require domestic and international travel to various project
