Job Description:
An Engineer for a Building Project manages technical aspects, bridging design and construction, ensuring projects meet quality, safety, budget, and schedule goals by planning, coordinating teams (designers, subs, clients), overseeing site activities, controlling quality/safety, solving technical issues, and managing documentation from feasibility to completion. They act as a key technical advisor, ensuring compliance with codes and efficient resource use, requiring strong leadership, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Design: Develop plans, conduct feasibility, review designs, calculate materials, and ensure plans meet technical standards and codes.
- Site Supervision: Set out, survey, oversee construction, supervise labor, ensure work matches specifications, and inspect materials.
- Coordination & Communication: Liaise with architects, clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers; maintain clear communication channels.
- Quality & Safety: Implement quality control, monitor safety protocols, conduct audits, and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Resource & Cost Management: Oversee material requisition, manage budgets, find cost-effective solutions, and optimize labor.
- Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve technical issues, design discrepancies, and construction challenges.
- Documentation: Maintain project records, daily reports, progress reports, update drawings (redlining), and manage change orders.
Essential Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge (civil/structural/building services).
- Leadership and team coordination.
- Excellent communication and presentation.
- Proficiency with design software.
- Strategic planning and risk assessment.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
