Family Office Equity Research Analyst

We are looking for an equity research analyst for the family office, based out of nariman point, mumbai. This will be mainly relating to public equity markets/listed securities + some private investments as well. Within that it will mainly relate to mid and small cap companies. The promoter is also full time involved in this business exclusively.

You will have the opportunity of interacting frequently with some of the finest minds of investing. There will be weekly meetings with the largest fund managers and wealth managers in the country. You will hear their best ideas and the way that they think about them so you will learn from all different types of investors and styles. You will also get to build out your network with some of the top people in the investing industry Objective will be to maximize the returns of the family office through evaluating and picking the right stocks. We dont manage 3rd Party money so work will not involve client servicing etc. It will be pure and blunt fundamental research. The team will consist of 4- 5 research people with reporting directly to promoter ensuring a flat hierarchy and a lot of responsibilities and learning. You will get to cover lots of sectors to build in depth as well as wide spread knowledge. Decisions will be quick and hence results of efforts will be visible fast.Each day’s work will be different and you will develop multiple skills and build a professional network in the investing community.

Responsibilities:

• Stock level (Sector agnostic but mid and small cap focused) fundamental analysis
• including:
• Meet with Fund managers and wealth managers alongside the team and understand their reasons for selecting certain investments. We will try and understand their thesis and reasoning’s and try to distill their best ideas to incorporate into portfolio.
• Industry level research.
• Directly talking to on the ground suppliers/corporate bankers/customers etc.
• Meet company management, tour facilities etc.
• Creating Research reports and projections/models and then pitching the idea
• Tracking KPI of portfolio companies/competition on monthly basis
• Coverage ownership- highlighting key developments such as earnings, news, and insights from important sell side notes to the PM.
• Leverage your personal and professional networks to generate ideas and conduct market research

Qualifications Required:

This has to be your passion

• Has to be buy side
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience ideally in mid and small cap companies
• Clear communication in English
• Management as well as the peer team will have a lot of expectations from you, but on performing you will be rewarded. Qualifications Preferred:

• 2 to 3+ years of experience
• CA/CWA Semi Qualified/MBA finance/CFA level 2 at least
• Good experience in Excel/vlookup/IRR etc.
• Interested in financial markets and a desire to learn more
• Ability to take initiative and meet deadlines under minimal supervision
• Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to provide & defend an opinion with management
• Reading habit
• Sector agnostic experience
