Job Description:
An Admission Counselor for a school guides prospective students and families through the enrollment process, acting as the primary contact to provide program info, assist with applications, review credentials, conduct interviews/tours, and manage recruitment activities to meet enrollment goals, requiring strong communication, organization, and a deep understanding of institutional offerings and financial aid options.
Key Responsibilities
- Student & Family Support: Counsel students on program options, admission requirements, procedures, and career goals; assist with applications, essays, and interviews.
- Recruitment & Outreach: Visit high schools, attend fairs, lead campus tours, host info sessions, and manage marketing materials to attract applicants.
- Application Management: Review applications, transcripts, and supporting documents; track application status in databases; follow up on missing information.
- Collaboration: Work with academic departments, alumni, and other staff for a smooth admissions process and to gather accurate information.
- Data & Reporting: Maintain accurate applicant records and use data to refine recruitment strategies.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent communication (verbal/written), interpersonal, and active listening skills.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management abilities.
- Knowledge of admissions software (CRM), educational trends, and financial aid.
- Ability to travel, work evenings/weekends, and represent the institution professionally.
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree, often a Master's in a related field.
