Job Description:
A Field Manager for Paint Manufacturing oversees daily paint shop operations, focusing on production targets, quality control, safety, and team management, involving process optimization (like 5S), troubleshooting production issues, managing suppliers, and ensuring compliance with quality standards (ISO, QMS) while coordinating with cross-functional teams (R&D, Maintenance, PPC). Key duties include managing staff, monitoring equipment, controlling costs, and driving continuous improvement in efficiency and product finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Production & Operations: Plan and direct daily production, meet tonnage/productivity goals, manage paint line setup, adjust machine parameters, and ensure efficient workflow.
- Quality Assurance: Implement quality standards, conduct inspections, perform root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone), manage defect trends, and ensure product meets specifications.
- Team & People Management: Supervise shop floor staff, manage contract employees, provide training on quality standards, and foster employee participation in improvement initiatives.
- Process Improvement: Implement 5S, optimize paint flow, control consumables and power costs, and support new product introduction (NPD) processes.
- Supplier & Cross-Functional Coordination: Liaise with paint suppliers, Planning (PPC), R&D, and Maintenance teams to resolve issues and ensure smooth operations.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain records for audits (ISO), prepare SOPs, and ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations (PPE usage).
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Education: B.E./Diploma in Mechanical, Chemical, or Automobile Engineering.
- Experience: Several years in paint shop operations, quality, or manufacturing (automotive/heavy fabrication often preferred).
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of paint processes, QMS, TQM, root cause analysis tools, SAP (optional).
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
