Job Description:
A GM of Production for a Transmission Line Tower manufacturer leads all factory operations, focusing on efficiency, quality, and cost control, by setting production schedules, managing teams, optimizing processes (like fabrication, welding, galvanizing), ensuring safety (OSHA, IS, IEC standards), and coordinating with supply chain/engineering for on-time delivery of towers, bridging technical fabrication knowledge with strategic management.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Planning & Control: Develop & execute master schedules, optimize resource (manpower, machinery, materials) utilization, and minimize downtime.
- Operational Excellence: Implement Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, and 5S to boost productivity, reduce waste, and manage costs.
- Quality & Safety: Enforce strict adherence to IS, IEC, ASTM, ISO standards; manage QC/QA; ensure OSHA compliance.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, mentor, and manage production teams, fostering a positive environment.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Liaise with Procurement, Supply Chain, Quality, Maintenance, Design, Marketing, and Sales.
- Budget & Cost Management: Prepare budgets, control expenses, and analyze variances.
- Material Management: Oversee inventory, material flow, and logistics for raw materials and finished goods.
- Process Oversight: Supervise fabrication, welding, cutting, drilling, and crucial hot-dip galvanizing processes.
Key Qualifications
- Education: B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Proven track record in large-scale steel fabrication, heavy structures, or transmission tower manufacturing.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of fabrication drawings, welding, galvanizing, ERP software (SAP), MS Office, and industry standards.
- Leadership: Strong leadership, team management, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
