Job Description:
A Head of Plant Operations (or Plant Head) manages all daily manufacturing activities, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality compliance while meeting production targets and managing budgets. Key duties include optimizing production processes, overseeing maintenance, directing staff, and implementing, continuous improvement initiatives typically requiring a B.E./B.Tech and 10+ years of experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Manage daily manufacturing operations, including production schedules, maintenance, and supply chain logistics.
- Performance & Efficiency: Increase output, asset capacity, and flexibility while minimizing costs and waste.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety protocols (e.g., OSHA, EPA) and environmental regulations.
- Quality Control: Maintain high product quality standards and troubleshoot production defects or deviations.
- Team Management: Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate staff to foster a productive, safe, and collaborative work environment.
- Financial Management: Develop and control the plant budget, including resource allocation and cost optimization.
- Strategic Planning: Drive continuous improvement (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma) to enhance productivity.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 15-25+ years of experience in manufacturing, with significant time in leadership roles.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC, welding, fabrication), root cause analysis, and, ERP software proficiency.
- Leadership: Excellent decision-making, communication, and, problem-solving abilities.
