Job Description:
A Head - Steel Melting Shop (SMS) Induction Furnace oversees all daily operations, safety protocols, and maintenance for the furnace, Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF), and continuous casting (CCM). Responsibilities include optimizing melting efficiency, ensuring steel quality (chemical consistency/temperature), reducing costs, and managing raw material, typically requiring 15+ years of experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Management: Lead and plan day-to-day operations of the induction furnace, charge mix, and casting to meet production targets.
- Quality & Process Control: Ensure high-quality steel production by controlling chemical composition and temperature, reducing process losses.
- Maintenance Coordination: Work with maintenance teams to ensure preventative and breakdown maintenance of induction furnaces and auxiliaries.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, environmental norms, and statutory requirements.
- Cost Optimization: Monitor energy consumption, optimize raw material usage, and drive cost-reduction initiatives.
- Team Leadership: Guide, train, and manage shift managers, operators, and technical staff.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience: 15–25 years in Induction Furnace-based SMS operations.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of metallurgy, melting practices, and refractory management.
- Qualifications: Typically a B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgy or Mechanical engineering.
- Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
