Job Description:
A Mechanical Engineer in a steel manufacturing company designs, installs, and maintains heavy machinery, furnaces, and production lines to ensure efficient steel melting and processing. Key responsibilities include implementing preventive maintenance to minimize downtime, troubleshooting equipment, ensuring safety compliance, and optimizing production processes.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Maintenance & Operations: Develop and execute preventive/predictive maintenance schedules for steel melting furnaces, ladles, rollers, and conveyors.
- Troubleshooting: Analyze mechanical failures, troubleshoot equipment bottlenecks, and implement immediate repairs to minimize downtime.
- Design & Engineering: Utilize CAD software to design, modify, or improve mechanical components and structural steel systems.
- Project Management: Oversee the installation and commissioning of new machinery and production equipment.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all machinery adheres to safety regulations, conduct regular safety inspections, and promote a zero-accident environment.
- Process Optimization: Implement improvements to increase production efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 3–7+ years in a heavy manufacturing, steel plant, or rolling mill environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks), understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and knowledge of metallurgical equipment.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and team management skills.
