GM MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE SID FOR STEEL MANUFACTURING - RAIGARH, CHHATTISGARH

Job Description:

• A General Manager (GM) of Mechanical Maintenance for a Sponge Iron Division (SID) ensures 100% availability of kilns, coolers, and raw material handling equipment. This senior leadership role entails strategic planning of preventive/shutdown maintenance, budget control, managing breakdown repairs, ensuring safety compliance, and improving plant performance in heavy manufacturing environments. 

   
   
  Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Strategic Maintenance Management: Develop, implement, and monitor preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and enhance plant equipment reliability (CHP, AHP, CWP, CT Fans).
  • Technical Leadership: Supervise mechanical activities, including overhauling, troubleshooting of kilns, raw material handling, and rotary equipment to meet production targets.
  • Operational Excellence: Improve Mechanical Processes and maintain high standards of quality during repair and refurbishment.
  • Cost Control & Budgeting: Prepare and manage annual/monthly maintenance budgets, tracking costs, and reducing maintenance expenditures.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and train the maintenance team, including supervisors and technicians, to optimize workforce efficiency.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and environmental regulations, maintaining a safe working environment.  
   
  Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience: 15–20 years in mechanical maintenance within a steel/sponge iron plant, with experience in managing rotary equipment and kiln operations.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficient in vibration analysis, root cause failure analysis (RCA), and using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, decision-making, and negotiation skills, particularly in dealing with vendors
