Job Description:
A Civil Engineer in a construction company plans, designs, and oversees infrastructure projects like buildings, roads, and bridges from conception to completion. They are responsible for conducting site investigations, preparing cost estimates, ensuring compliance with safety/building regulations, managing budgets, and coordinating with subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning & Design: Analyze blueprints, maps, and soil reports to create structural designs, site layouts, and project plans.
- Project Management: Develop project schedules, manage budgets, and monitor progress to ensure on-time delivery.
- Site Supervision: Inspect construction sites to monitor progress, enforce safety standards, and ensure adherence to quality benchmarks.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, and technical reports.
- Coordination: Liaise with architects, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to resolve issues.
- Material Management: Estimate and monitor the procurement and usage of raw materials on-site.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MS Office (Excel, Project), and modeling software.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and local building codes.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Experience: Previous experience in site supervision or structural design.
