Job Description:
A Civil Engineer for a construction company manages, designs, and oversees infrastructure projects like roads, bridges, and buildings from conception to completion. They are responsible for preparing site plans, calculating structural loads/costs, ensuring safety compliance (e.g., OSHA), and supervising on-site work. They require expertise in AutoCAD, project management software, and structural analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Design: Develop detailed blueprints, structural plans, and technical specifications using CAD software.
- Site Management: Oversee on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Technical Analysis: Conduct soil tests, topographical surveys, and environmental impact assessments.
- Cost & Resource Management: Prepare project budgets, estimates for material/labor costs, and manage sub-contractors.
- Documentation: Prepare progress reports, project schedules, and compliance documentation.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Project, and structural analysis software.
- Experience: Proven experience in structural design, site supervision, or project management.
- Competencies: Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Licensure: Relevant engineering license (e.g., PE or EIT) may be required depending on the role level.
