Job Description:
A construction manager oversees construction projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are finished safely, on time, and within budget. They manage the entire process, including hiring subcontractors, scheduling, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and Budgeting: Developing detailed cost estimates, work plans, and schedules.
- Coordination: Managing on-site personnel, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth workflow.
- Safety and Compliance:
Monitoring the site for safety hazards, implementing safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Communication: Acting as the liaison between owners, engineers, architects, and the construction team to provide progress updates.
- Problem-Solving: Making on-the-spot decisions to resolve delays, emergencies, or unexpected issues.
Construction managers may work from a field office, using software to manage contracts, documentation, and project tracking. They are responsible for the quality of work and ensuring the project meets the owner’s specifications.
