Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Manager – New Product Development (NPD) to lead the design, development, and commercialization of new products for a manufacturing company engaged in rubber hoses and brake pads supplied to automobile, railway, and defence sectors. The candidate will be responsible for developing innovative products, improving existing products, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities
1. New Product Development
• Lead the complete NPD lifecycle from concept development to product commercialization.
• Develop new rubber hose and brake pad products based on customer requirements and market demand.
• Conduct feasibility studies, product design, and prototype development.
2. Research & Material Development
• Work on rubber formulations, friction materials, and product design improvements.
• Evaluate new raw materials, compounds, and technologies to improve product performance.
• Conduct laboratory testing and product validation.
3. Product Testing & Validation
• Plan and conduct performance testing, durability testing, and validation trials.
• Ensure products meet technical specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare test reports and product qualification documentation.
4. Customer Development Projects
• Work closely with OEM customers, railway authorities, and defence clients for new product approvals.
• Support technical discussions, product samples, and trials with customers.
• Manage product development timelines and milestones.
5. Cross-Functional Coordination
• Coordinate with production, quality, purchase, and sales teams for successful product development.
• Support the production team during initial product trials and process development.
6. Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain complete product development documentation, drawings, specifications, and testing records.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, industry norms, and customer requirements.
7. Continuous Product Improvement
• Identify opportunities for product improvement, cost reduction, and performance enhancement.
• Analyze field performance and customer feedback for product optimization.

• Strong knowledge of rubber technology, friction materials, and automobile components
• Experience in product design, development, and testing
• Familiarity with automobile, railway, and defence product standards
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Experience with product validation and customer approvals
• Good project management and cross-functional coordination skills

Educational Qualification
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Polymer Engineering / Chemical Engineering
• Master’s degree or specialization in Rubber Technology / Polymer Science will be an advantage.
