Job Description:
A driver is responsible for safely transporting passengers or goods, maintaining vehicle cleanliness and mechanical soundness, and adhering to traffic regulations. Key duties include planning routes using GPS, loading/unloading cargo, delivering items promptly, and maintaining accurate logs of mileage and fuel. A valid license, clean record, and punctuality are essential.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Safe Transportation: Transport passengers, clients, or goods to destinations efficiently and safely.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily inspections (tires, brakes, oil, fuel, lights) and ensure the vehicle is clean and well-maintained.
- Route Planning: Utilize GPS, navigation apps, and knowledge of local areas to determine the most efficient routes and avoid delays.
- Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate logs (mileage, deliveries, fuel consumption) and handle paperwork.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to traffic laws, road signs, and safety regulations.
- Customer Service: Act professionally, especially when dealing with clients, staff, or guests.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- License: Valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type (e.g., non-CDL or CDL).
- Experience: Proven experience as a driver, often at least 1-2 years.
- Record: A clean driving record (no, or minimal, violations).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of traffic laws, road safety regulations, and city geography.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift heavy packages or luggage (often up to 70 lbs).
- Skills: Strong communication, time management, and navigation skills.
Common Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to perform minor repairs or maintenance.
