Job Description:
A Store Keeper in a steel manufacturing company manages raw materials (steel coils, scrap, alloys), consumables, tools, and finished goods, ensuring accurate inventory records, safe storage, and timely issuance to production. Key duties include receiving, inspecting, stacking materials (using FEFO/FIFO), maintaining cleanliness, and updating ERP systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Receiving & Inspection: Receive raw materials, consumables, and engineering tools; verify quality, quantity, and grade against purchase orders (POs) and material test certificates.
- Inventory Control: Maintain accurate stock records, bin cards, and inventory management systems (e.g., ERP, Excel) for raw materials, consumables, and spare parts.
- Material Handling & Storage: Organize, categorize, and safely stack materials (e.g., steel rods, plates, coils) in the yard or warehouse.
- Issuance & Documentation: Issue materials to production, workshop, or maintenance based on authorized requisitions (indent).
- Stock Verification: Conduct regular physical stock verification (daily/monthly/yearly) and reconcile with book stock.
- Safety & Maintenance: Ensure the store area is clean, safe, and complies with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies.
- Scrap Management: Handle the collection, storing, and disposal of scrap materials produced during manufacturing.
Requirements
- Experience: 4-5+ years in inventory control, ideally in a manufacturing, heavy industry, or engineering workshop environment.
- Education: High school certificate/Diploma, or higher in related fields.
- Skills: Knowledge of materials management, basic proficiency in Excel/ERP systems.
- Physical Strength: Ability to handle heavy industrial items and equipment.
Preferred Competencies
- Understanding of steel grades, consumables, and technical tools.
- Knowledge of the First In, First Out (FIFO) method.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
