A Senior HR Officer in a steel manufacturing company manages the full employee lifecycle, statutory compliance (Factories Act, PF, ESI), and industrial relations (IR) within a plant environment. Key responsibilities include recruiting skilled labor/engineers, managing contractor labor, payroll, performance management, and resolving employee grievances, usually requiring 2–8 years of manufacturing HR experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Statutory Compliance & IR: Ensure strict adherence to the Factories Act, labor laws, and safety regulations; manage relationships with unions and contractors.
- Recruitment & Onboarding: Source, interview, and onboard skilled/unskilled workers, technicians, and engineers.
- Payroll & Time Office: Oversee attendance, shift scheduling, and salary processing.
- Employee Relations & Grievances: Maintain a positive work environment and handle disputes, particularly on the shop floor.
- Performance & Training: Conduct performance appraisals and organize safety training.
- Contractor Labor Management: Oversee contractors for compliance and safety.
