Job Description:
An Instrumentation Engineer/Technician in a steel manufacturing company installs, calibrates, and maintains control systems, sensors, and actuators (DCS, PLC, SCADA) that monitor parameters like pressure, temperature, flow, and level. They ensure operational efficiency, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot equipment in heavy, high-temperature industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Calibration: Perform routine calibration and troubleshooting of field instruments (sensors, transmitters, control valves) to ensure precise operations.
- Automation Systems: Manage and maintain Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) regulating steel production processes.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all instruments meet safety (hazardous area, high-temperature) and environmental standards, and adhere to maintenance schedules to prevent downtime.
- Project Engineering: Collaborate on designing, upgrading, and installing new instruments or upgrading automation setups.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair malfunctioning sensors, actuators, and electronic/pneumatic systems rapidly to minimize production disruption.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Diploma in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
- Knowledge: Expertise in control systems (DCS/PLC/SCADA), smart transmitters, and process automation tools.
- Experience: 0-1+ years of experience in heavy industries, preferably steel plants, blast furnaces, or steel rolling mills.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), circuit diagrams, and technical drawings.
