Job Description:
A Diploma Engineer Trainee (DET) in Mechanical Engineering at a steel manufacturing company assists senior engineers with daily plant operations, maintenance of machinery, and quality control. Key duties include performing preventive/corrective maintenance on equipment, troubleshooting breakdowns in shop floors or rolling mills, and adhering to strict safety protocols while learning production processes.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Maintenance: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on machinery (e.g., cranes, furnaces, rolling mills) to ensure high uptime.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve mechanical breakdowns on the shop floor, often working in rotational shifts.
- Production Support: Assist in daily production operations to ensure quality standards and production targets are met.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to industrial safety protocols (PPE, lock-out/tag-out) to maintain a safe working environment.
- Documentation: Record maintenance data, prepare reports using SAP or MS Office, and update machine logs.
- Projects: Assist senior engineers with engineering projects, technical drawings (AutoCAD), and installation of new machinery.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: Entry-level (typically 0–2 years).
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and machine components.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office (Excel, Word).
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, teamwork, and ability to work in a heavy manufacturing environment.
Typical Work Environment
- High-temperature industrial environment (Steel Melting Shop or Rolling Mills).
- Requirement to work in shifts (Rotational/Night shifts)
