Job Description:
An Electrician for a Ferro-Alloys/Steel Manufacturing company installs, maintains, and repairs high-voltage electrical systems, motors, and automation equipment in industrial environments. They troubleshoot failures, work with 480v 3ph/substations, and ensure compliance with safety codes, typically requiring ITI/Diploma certification and experience in heavy manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Submerged Arc Furnaces (SAF), transformers, circuit breakers, and motors.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and fix electrical faults to minimize production downtime in high-temperature environments.
- Installation: Set up electrical systems, wiring, conduits, and control panels.
- Safety Adherence: Strict compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical diagrams, and blueprints.
- System Monitoring: Monitor power distribution systems and ensure reliable energy supply for smelting, alloying, and production, says jobitus.com.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: ITI in Electrical/Wireman or Diploma in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering.
- Experience: 3–5 years in electrical maintenance within a steel plant, foundry, or ferro-alloy manufacturing industry.
- Technical Skills: Experience with 480v 3ph systems, PLC systems, and using testing devices like multimeters.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a heavy industrial, high-temperature environment.
